The Together we Pray Andover ministry expansion will kick off on Thursday, August 6 from 6:30–7:30 pm in the Andover High School Auditorium, where you can expect an evening of praise and worship, a ministry overview that includes our mission, vision, and expanded plan, personal testimonies from teachers and students, opportunities to sign up for a prayer team, and booths from partner ministries, followed by an optional school prayer walk around 7:30 pm.

A prayer team is for any follower of Jesus who desires to seek God together, cares deeply about the thriving of our youth and young adults, and carries a humble, Spirit‑led heart to intercede for our schools.
-
No specific level of prayer experience is needed—only a willing heart. Anyone who loves Jesus, desires to grow in prayer, and cares about the blessing and well‑being of our youth and young adults can serve beautifully on a prayer team, whether they’ve prayed for decades or are just beginning to learn how to pray with others.
-
As we expand the ministry from a pilot to a full launch, we are praying for enough adult prayer teams to eventually cover Oak View Middle School and Andover High School every day of the month throughout the school year, and while the basic commitment is simply to pray for your designated school once a month, many teams may naturally choose to meet more often as relationships deepen and they experience the joy and power of prayer.
-
Your church small group should remain your primary place of discipleship, community, and spiritual growth. Prayer teams are not meant to replace or compete with that—they are a lighter‑touch, mission‑focused supplement. Most prayer teams gather once a month or so for a short time of intercession for a specific school. This rhythm is intentionally designed so it does not interfere with your church small group or stretch your weekly commitments. Many people find that participating in both works beautifully: your small group nurtures your walk with Christ, while a prayer team gives you a simple, relational way to seek the well‑being of your community.
If you're already part of a church small group and would like to have your group commit to praying once a month for one of our schools, we would be grateful to have you join this effort. Please join the August 6 kick-off to sign up.
-
Prayer teams can meet virtually, in person, or on school grounds outside of open school hours, choosing whatever format best supports connection, consistency, and the shared mission of covering our schools in prayer.
-
Prayer teams will receive monthly prayer themes, prayer lists focused on blessing and the thriving of our schools, and individual prayer requests submitted through the website or shared by student ministries such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes and The Breakfast Club; all personal requests will be kept confidential, with the option for submitters to remain anonymous, and we will also track answered prayers throughout the year.
Prayer teams will also practice several biblical models of prayer, including A‑C‑T‑S—Adoration (praising God for who He is), Confession (silent acknowledgment of sin), Thanksgiving (thanking God for what He has done), Supplication (praying for one another), and Scripture prayer (praying directly from specific Bible verses).
-
Throughout the last three weeks of August, we will offer both virtual and in‑person training sessions that walk prayer captains through how to facilitate a prayer team, the resources available, and the ongoing support provided throughout the school year, ensuring every captain feels equipped and encouraged as they lead.
-
After the kick‑off event on August 6, training sessions for both student and adult prayer captains will take place throughout August; captains will then connect with their designated teams to coordinate introductions and next steps leading up to the formal launch when school begins on September 6. Adults will be invited to join students for See You at the Pole on September 23 (student-led prayer), formal school prayer walks will be announced throughout the year, and in January we will host an in‑person check‑in to share testimonies and gather input on how best to advance the ministry going forward.
Student prayer teams will run parallel to, but separate from, adult prayer teams, and will in part align with the Claim Your Campus ministry and app, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Breakfast Club.

Yes—local ministries are absolutely welcome to join. We are better together, united by a shared desire to see our schools blessed, protected, and thriving. If your ministry is interested in partnering or learning more about how to get involved, please reach out through the website.

Yes—new prayer teams are welcome at any point during the year. We will gladly onboard additional groups as interest grows, provide them with the same monthly prayer themes and resources, and help them connect with a prayer captain so they can begin praying for their designated school right away. This flexibility allows the movement to expand naturally as God stirs hearts and new relationships form.

Yes—other communities are welcome to join. Together We Pray Andover is glad to share our resources, training, and learnings with any community that desires to see its schools blessed, protected, and thriving. We believe the movement grows stronger when communities support one another, and we’re eager to help others launch their own local prayer efforts as God opens doors.
